Welcome to the independent® TV Show Tuesday, January 12-2010: Heppy New Year to all! Ok, so it's 2010, let's get this thing going! My first resolution of the ew year is to keep ontop of the independent. I am currently working on my hard drive array and will hopefully be back editing by this weekend. I am also working on adding a message board now that we have changed our servers and can handle more scripts. Please stay tuned, 2010 is going to be killer! Thursday, December 3-2009: Hi there, I am sorry it has been so long since my last update. My video drives went down so I had no edit capabilities for the last few months. I have piles of raw footage from the NXNE Music Conference just waiting to be cut and posted. I am wishing for a few Tera-bite drives for Christmas so I can get back to work. Winter is getting ready to attack Toronto, so I will have lots of shoveling to do soon. Hang in there and keep emailing me bands so we can feature them here. Saturday, July 26-2009: Hey all, well summer is in full swing. I have been working and camping with my Family. I will be a little slow on the updates for the next month. Thursday, June 17-2009: It is the first day of NXNE and we are there! Stephen Hart and I were waiting in line to pick up our media passes @ 11:45am. We ran into a snag as the passes were not ready and so we just shot some footage outside the conference. We did get our passes later in the afternoon, so now we are good to go. I hope Friday goes better, I got a $40.00 parking ticket while waiting for the passes! If you see us say hello and we will interview you. We will be shooting 30 second Micro-pods on my cell phone and uploading them to Facebook. You can find them by searching for PJPMedia on FB. Friday, June 5-2009: Ok, yet another week has passed, did you accomplish what you set out to do this week? I know it is hard to keep your music front and center with all those distractions. Working a regular job, eating, sleeping, some times ya might wonder "Is this worth all the effort? "Why am I banging my head into the wall day after day?" "Am I accomplishing my goal?" Trust me you are not the only one asking these and other common questions related to people in the music industry. This is one of the hardest fields to break into. What keeps me going? The music! No matter how bad it looks, when I play my music for even one person who enjoys it and what I am doing, I find new strength since that is why I started doing this over 30 years ago. I love playing to people and getting a reaction. Sure it might not always be positive, but any feed back can be used to improve your craft. You can do it, just feel the drive inside you and go for it! James has posted his weekly column here, check it out. We are preparing for the NXNE music conference being held here in Toronto, Canada from June 17th to June 21st 2009. This is one of Canada's largest music happenings. A great place to network, check out the competition and make some new contacts. The conference features lots of industry people including most A&R representatives. These are the people who can make a deal happen, so get out there with your press kits/promotional material and sell, sell, sell! Wednesday, May 27-2009: Sorry it has been a week since the last update, I was building a patio on the front of my house and it took longer than I planned. James has a new article posted, check it out here. I am editing the next show and should have it ready for the weekend! Wednesday, May 20-2009: Half way through the week and we are hard at it! James has a new column posted here. We still need more Groups and Artists, contact us if you want to be featured on the web site. The new show will be posted this weekend. Friday, May 15-2009: End of the week! I have been working on the site all week and today is no exception. Below I have posted an interview from 1998 that covers the NXNE music conference being held in Toronto, Canada on June 17-21. Dave Bookman is interviewed by Stephen Hart, one of the independent's field reporters. NXNE is a amazing conference that showcases over 500 Artists over a one week period. This is an opportunity to network your music to thousands of industry people from all over the world!
Wednesday, May 13-2009: James Has posted his weekly article, check it out here! I have posted our Mantra. It clearly states where we are coming from and what the show is about. I added three new Groups today, check them out in the Artists section. Tuesday, May 12-2009: The new show has been posted. This week we are featuring Jane Doe. This is a great group, very heavy. Please check it out in the TV Show section and give us some feed back. Monday, May 11-2009: I have posted the video below. It is from an interview with Marc from 13 years ago. I think what he says still sums up what we are about and what we need to do. Check it out and see what you think. We are still seeking more Correspondents for the show. If you are into your local music scene and have a video camera we want to talk to you! Are you a Group/Artist that needs exposure? Contact us so we can help you, hey did I mention it is FREE!
Thursday, May 7-2009: I have done some work on the menu (that's it up there) and it will soon be @ the top of all pages to hopefully make moving around the site easier for everyone. James our Host has posted his weekly column for you all to read. Click here to check it out. We still want to hear from you out there. Feed back about the web site and we want artists we can showcase on the TV Show. Remember, we have never charged anyone for performing on the TV Show or for appearing on the web site. We are here to help promote you! I will post the next TV Show this weekend. Tuesday, April 28-2009: James now has a page of his own! Click here to check out this weeks column. Sunday, April 26-2009: Wow! this has been a very productive week so far and it's not even Monday yet! We have the new domain name www.pjpmedia.biz and we are on the new server so the site is now much faster. Shout out to Dean and his crew over @ www.fnaxtreme.com for all the support and help. We have a video from James the new Host of the show. James and I hooked up Friday morning and shot this in my kitchen. Check it out here. More good news now, Marc Stevenson my old partner and good friend is coming back to help with the show. We started this whole thing together and I am so pleased that Marc will be here for the evolution of the independent® TV Show! Thursday, April 23-2009: It has been a busy week, James and I will be shooting an interview Friday so you can all meet and greet our new host! I am working with Dean to acquire a proper web address for the web site, we should have it wrapped up early next week based on what I am being told. More good news! Danny Deane has agreed to be our Vancouver, British Columbia Correspondent. Danny brings a huge wealth of skills and talent to our ever growing team here at the independent® TV Show. Monday, April 20-2009: I hope you all had a super weekend! I was working for most of it and am happy to announce we have another correspondent. Steve Carter from Ottawa, Canada will now be covering the nations capital and bringing you all the best they have to offer. Good to have you Steve. So far I have been receiving positive feed back and a few equerries since posting the new show. A positive first step! Friday, April 17-2009: Ok, it has been a very busy week! I digitized the first show from the series and posted it here in TV Show. I will post a new show every week. We are proud to announce our first Correspondent. Len Hawco, in Mount Waverly, Victoria, Australia. Len brings a lot to the show and we are really excited to see what Australia has to offer. Welcome Len! The biggest news is we now have a Host! I hope you will all welcome James Verner to the independent TV Show. James has a life time musical background and works in the Toronto area playing in his group "Sounds Like War" and engineering various studio projects. We feel the addition of James to our team is a major accomplishment! Monday, April 13-2009: Happy Easter to you all! The search for a new host is narrowing down. I had a great chat with an old friend on the weekend and it looks like the search may be over. I will have more on this by weeks end. I had an idea today and I think it will work. the independent TV Show is now looking for Correspondents. This will offer opportunities for people with camera skills and access to local talent from their own area! You would capture and edit live footage of bands/Artists in your area. These segments would be featured weekly on the independent TV Show. April/9/2009: Hey there, I have been spending time going through the shows and digitizing all the footage. I want to start posting shows next week. I am also working on getting a new host, we currently have no idea where Jerry is? Spring is here and We are excited about all the groups performing here in Toronto. I have been working with Dean Spencer from "From The Crypt Records". Dean has a new internet radio show and we are trying to work out a deal so that future groups/artists featured on the independent can also be played on his show! We are also looking @ giving Dean's show a page here for a weekly feature on some of the great people he is currently working with on his show. It has been a while since we were on-line, but we are back now and we plan on staying around for a while. This show was originally created in the spring of 1995 By myself and my friend Marc. We did three seasons of the show, taped and produced here in Toronto, Canada. The cable company we started with was bought out and then traded so sadly we were dropped in the shuffle. The last producer we worked with even stole some of our bands and the look of the show and tried to do a fourth season, but it sucked so her show was dropped.
Ok, now that we are all caught up, on with the show. My first job was to get the web site back up as you can see. I am currently working on digitizing three years of footage from past artists. I am doing single performances and posting them on You Tube. I will have the video's available here soon so hang in there. After I finish editing, a DVD is in the works. The DVD will be available on the site as soon as it goes to production.
If you have a group/solo artist that you would like to see featured on the web site, drop me a line pjpmedia@yahoo.com and we can talk. I must say things have progressed greatly since we did the first web site. Now most bands have MP3's and video's available for down loading along with press kits. 14 years ago we were still trying to figure out how to stream video!
